May is Here!

I wanted to take a moment to first thank Naaz, Andrea Regina and Paul for volunteering on our somewhat rained out Bike Rally for the City of Roseville. Having a W+P presence like that is noticed and is valued by the City. It is efforts like that that make the City Value us as a Company.
Next, I would like to say Way to go Mark!!!!! After the First weekend W+P is in the Top 10 riders with Mark leading the way and is the first to go triple digits (102 miles logged). Wow!

You should also know that we have challenged the City of Roseville and those losers over at Lionakis. No word yet if Lionakis has the gumption to take us on though!!

Over the weekend a few people kicked it off with a BBQ and beer before logging a few miles. Hope it didn’t come back up on you while riding. Thank you Andrea for hosting what turned out to be another rainout.

This weekend is Tour de Lincoln so all who are riding in it contact Robi and Mark.

Rain Rain Go Away...

To kick of 'May is Bike Month' Andrea organized a great ride on the trail followed by a delicious BBQ. Only problem...rain, and lots of it. I showed up ready to ride rain or shine but the weather just wouldn't cooperate. Every time we'd get ready to head out...another downpour. We threw in the towel and grabbed the bottle opener and decided to make the best of the day. We grilled some teriyaki turkey burgers with all the trimmings accompanied by potato salad, pasta salad, chips and salsa and grilled pineapple. After sufficiently stuffing ourselves the rain decided to stop...imagine that. Being the die hard cyclist we are...we headed out and clicked off 42 miles. Thanks to Andrea for organizing the event...it was a blast despite the rain.

Our second annual Biggest Loser / Most Consistent Mover competition just wrapped. It was 12 weeks of weigh in's and recording exercise points. I must say, the dedication was not quite what it was last year... but I'm happy to say we still managed to lose 52 pounds collectively. CONGRATULATIONS to W+P's Biggest Loser: Melanie Naga (who lost an impressive 15 pounds) to W+P's Most Consistent Mover: Kim Settle (who averaged about 8 hours of exercise every week!) Keep it up everyone... which shouldn't be too hard with Million Mile May craziness upon us! Great work!!

How I Spent My last Friday Off - Mary

We weren’t going to take a ride this weekend, but by yesterday afternoon we could no longer resist the urge. We took a short ride up 16, through Plymouth to Placerville, had a munchie, then down Green Valley to Folsom. Passed this little bar in Nashville. It’s closed now, but about 23 odd years ago my brother’s band played there. It’s truly a “don’t blink or you’ll miss it” sort of place.

Hard Hat and Heels

Sacred Heart Parish School presented their 3rd annual Spring fundraising event “Hard Hat & Heels” last Saturday.
Williams + Paddon was one of many sponsors for the event that helped raise money for the new Sacred Heart Elementary School. The event included a delicious barbeque (provided by Ludy’s BBQ); games i.e. roulette wheel, poker, basketball; a silent and live auction and dancing to the music provided by a DJ. With all the high bidding on live auction items, which included several artistically handmade items by the students of Sacred Heart, there was no doubt this fundraiser was a success.
I was hoping to win the bid for a beautifully hand painted set of Adirondack chairs, but I was immediately outbid by several hundred dollars. Starting bid was $200.00. My guess is the winning bid went to a parent of one of the students who helped paint the chairs.

Annual Principal’s Breakfast……..Awesome Teamwork!

Many thanks for the delicious breakfast prepared last Thursday, by our fabulous leadership - Jim, Jack, Terry, Paul, Greg and Naaz. Even with the setback of blowing a fuse or two they managed to cook up a tasty grand slam breakfast (complete with fresh fruit, juice and hot coffee) for 40+ hungry W+P employees. They did it all without breaking a sweat…..gotta love that teamwork and dedication. That’s why we think they are awesome!

Downtown Roseville Specific Plan

Last night several of us attended the Mayor’s Reception at the Tower Theater where they presented the completed Downtown Roseville Specific Plan. The City is extremely proud of the work, and gave praise to W+P (and others) for our role in its development. They particularly recognized Paul Walsh and Jeff Navarro, whose graphics were prominently displayed, including a fly around on the big screen behind the presenters.

Congratulations to all who contributed to this project and particularly to Paul and to Jeff for representing W+P so well.

Grill Masters

Last Friday was our first official all office half day. Which of course meant that we had to celebrate. Thanks to Amber and Jessica for grilling the dogs, Joey for setting up Rock Band, and all those who showed up to have a little fun. The water balloon toss started harmlessly enough but ended in a full on water balloon fight (imagine that!). For those still in the office as rock band was going...I'm sorry. When you combine my horrible drum playing, with Jeff's of key lead guitar and Tom's spot on impersonation of a horrible bass player you have a recipe for disaster. All in all it was a fun afternoon. Look for future events to be planned in the near future!
